1. About Luna Black

Luna Black is a female-owned tattoo studio operating at 43 Webersvallei Road, Jamestown, Stellenbosch, 7600, South Africa. References to "we," "us," or "the studio" throughout these terms refer to Luna Black Tattoo Studio.

2. Age Requirements

You must be 18 years of age or older to receive a tattoo or piercing at Luna Black. We reserve the right to request valid government-issued photo identification at any time. Appointments booked by or for individuals under the age of 18 will be cancelled and any deposits forfeited.

3. Booking & Deposits

• All appointments require a non-refundable deposit to secure your booking. The deposit amount will be confirmed at the time of booking and is deducted from the total session fee on the day.
• Deposits are transferable to a rescheduled date provided at least 72 hours' notice is given before your scheduled appointment.
• Deposits are forfeited if you cancel with less than 72 hours' notice, fail to attend without prior notice, or are declined service due to non-compliance with these terms (e.g. arriving under the influence).
• Bookings are confirmed only once the deposit has been received. Holding a date without payment does not constitute a confirmed appointment.

4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

• To cancel or reschedule, please contact us as early as possible at hello@lunablack.co.za or via our booking platform.
• If we need to cancel your appointment for any reason, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer a full refund of your deposit or an alternative booking date.
• We reserve the right to reschedule appointments due to artist illness, studio emergency, or other circumstances beyond our control.

5. Pricing & Payment

• All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
• Final pricing for custom work is confirmed by your artist prior to commencing the tattoo. Quoted prices are estimates; complex or time-intensive designs may be billed at an hourly rate.
• Full payment is due on the day of your appointment upon completion of the work. We accept cash and major bank cards.
• Prices displayed on our website or social media are indicative only and subject to change.

6. Design & Artwork

• Custom tattoo designs created by Luna Black artists remain the intellectual property of the artist unless otherwise agreed in writing. You are granted a personal licence to wear the design as a tattoo; the studio retains the right to photograph and display the work in its portfolio.
• Design consultations and custom artwork preparation are included in the session fee. Additional significant revisions may incur a design fee.
• We do not replicate another tattoo artist's original designs. Reference images are used for inspiration only.
• Final designs are shared with you at the start of your session. Major changes requested on the day of the appointment may result in rescheduling.

7. Health & Safety

• It is your responsibility to inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, medications, or skin sensitivities that may affect the tattooing process or healing. This includes but is not limited to blood-thinning medication, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and skin conditions.
• Tattoos are not performed on sunburned, broken, infected, or irritated skin. Please arrive with clean, moisturised, and unshaved skin in the area to be tattooed.
• We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is behaving aggressively, or whose health or skin condition makes the procedure inadvisable.
• All equipment is single-use and sterile. Our studio is cleaned and maintained to the highest hygiene standards.

8. Aftercare & Touch-Ups

• Aftercare instructions will be provided at the end of your session. Following these instructions is essential for proper healing. Failure to follow aftercare advice may affect the quality of the healed tattoo.
• One complimentary touch-up is offered per tattoo, available after the tattoo has fully healed (typically 6–8 weeks). Touch-ups must be requested within 6 months of your original session.
• Touch-ups are not offered for fading caused by sun exposure, improper aftercare, or natural skin variation. Touch-ups on hands, feet, fingers, and certain other areas may not be included due to the nature of the skin in those locations.

9. Shop & Online Purchases

• All shop sales are final unless a product arrives damaged or faulty. In that case, please contact us within 7 days of receipt.
• We aim to dispatch orders within 5 business days. Delivery times are estimates and we are not liable for delays caused by courier services.
• Digital products (prints, downloads) are non-refundable once delivered.

10. Photography & Portfolio

By consenting to photography at the end of your session, you grant Luna Black a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use images of the completed tattoo for portfolio, website, and social media purposes. You may withdraw this consent at any time. We will always request your permission before photographing your face or any identifying features.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Luna Black shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services, website, or products. Our total liability in any matter shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service or product in question.

Tattooing is a permanent body modification. By proceeding with your appointment you acknowledge that you understand and accept the permanent nature of the procedure and any associated risks.

12. Website Use

All content on the Luna Black website — including text, images, graphics, logos, and designs — is the property of Luna Black or its contributing artists and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our express written permission.

We make every effort to ensure information on our website is accurate and up to date, but we make no warranties as to its completeness or accuracy. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience only; we are not responsible for their content.

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
